Nick Turner Cross Country Series
Updated 2nd June 07

Thursday 21st June, 28th June, 5th July

Nick has run some superb clinics here over the last couple of years, enjoyed by riders and horses of all abilities. Taking the idea of one-off clinics further, Nick and I thought it would be a good idea to offer a series of clinics for three consecutive weeks during the summer. The idea being to gain continuity, working on individual fences and then putting them together - making real progress week on week.

These would be an hour long and with three riders in a group. The first group would start at 5.30pm, followed by the second and third group at 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

The cost would be £95 for all three lessons. I do hope that you will see this as an opportunity for a bit of fun as well as taking your riding skills to new heights!

Derby House Open Cross Country, 27th May
Updated 5th June 07

In spite of heavy rain, competitors enjoyed a super cross country competition over the bank holiday at Hill House. One of the main features of the Derby House Open Cross Country on 27th May, was the new start and finish. Riders at all levels rose to the challenge of the first three fences being new obstacles taking the rider away from the start in “Five Acres” and into “Catherine’s Wood”. All levels then followed an interesting course, through the “Meadow Ground” incorporating banks, water, steps and ditches round “Stevington” and “Herons Grove” and finishing over a newly laid hedge and the Derby House Lamb Creep. Those riders who have ridden here before will have noticed the many changes and additions since last season. We now have over seventy fences that provide a wide and varied challenge for riders and horses of all abilities. Some of the changes and improvements are in preparation for 2008 when we will host our first B.E. two day event for Intro and Pre-novice riders.

Our thanks must go to all our sponsors, Derby House, Subaru-Souls of Olney, Equine Affairs, Swanspool Veterinary Clinic, Signcraft, Dodson & Horrell, NFU Mutual Insurance, Horse-Power Photography and the sixty plus volunteers without whom this wonderful day would not have been possible; also to the competitors who manage to stay cheerful and enthusiastic through the rain!
